Writing Email III

Before you send the email, make sure you review the content for clarity, grammar and punctuation.

If possible send the email to some one else to review and provide feedback.

Keep your audience in mind. Make sure the email is clear and understandable to the person you are sending it to.

Never say what can not be repeated one thousand times. Remember that the receiver can easily forward the email to every one they know. Confirm you have not said anything defamatory, derogatory, or indiscrete in the email.

I never said that. Remember that the email can be printed out and used in evidence in a court of law. Do not promise anything in an email that you can not deliver on. One disadvantage of putting something in writing is that it is on your permanent record.

Practice Writing. Since email is becoming the communication of choice for many people including your customers, you may want to get in the habit of writing. The more you do it the better you will get.

Study Writing. There are many books out there on writing, communications, and marketing. Improving your knowledge and skill in this area could prove beneficial to your bottom line.
