The following lists some of our policies and procedures. This document should be read before any web design work is commenced. Specific items, products, and services will be indicated on the Estimate or the Invoice. Also indicated on the Estimate or Invoice will be a list of what services will not be provided.
We are not a domain registrar. The client is responsible for registering their own domain. If we assist in this process in any way, the Domain remains the property of the Customer. Any service we provide will be considered computer training and will be billed hourly. The total will depend on the amount of time we spend 'training' the customer on how to register a domain name.
We do not provide web site hosting services. The client is responsible for finding a host for their web site. The client shall provide us access to the control panel of their web site host. In lieu of that the client may upload the files them selves. When estimating the final cost we will assume one hour for uploading the html files. If the client handles this themselves we will reduce the total cost accordingly. We recommend that the customer change the password for their web hosting account once we have completed our services.
The client shall provide any images or written content to be included in the site. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that any material is free of any copyright or similar infringements.
We do not design 'adult' sites. Likewise the web hosting company will likely have rules against innappropriate material.
If requested we can provide logos, banners, and other customized art work for the customer's site. Upon payment of the total cost of the web site, the customer will be considered the owner of graphics that we have designed for the customer.
The customer is the author and owner of the text and written content of the web site. We offer editing services to assist in making the web site as effective as possible. However, the final decision of what to say and how to say it is the customers. Therefore any suits regarding advertising injury, defamation, libel or similar wrongs are solely the responsibility of the customer.
The customer shall forward necessary materials such as images, content, or scanned images via email. Likewise, we will forward information to the customer via email. We will provide our mailing address and fax number if materials can not be sent via email.
We will provide an Estimate for our Services. Before starting any work we will require a 50% downpayment. Final publication of the web site will not occur until the balance of the estimated amount is paid.
If the customer requests work beyond what was included in the original estimate we will send the customer an estimate for the additional cost. This additional cost must be paid before the final publication of the web site.
Once the web site has been approved by the customer and the total cost has been paid to us, we will publish the web site to the web site host. Any revisions after the initial publication are considered an additional service and will be billed at the hourly rate that is then in effect.
For a small fee, we will copy all of the customer's web site files onto a Compact Disc. The Customer should request this before the site is published and the total cost has been paid. This will allow the customer to give the necessary material to another web designer they may wish to use in the future.
We are not a 'web master' or 'web administrator.' The responsibility for maintaining or administering the web site is the customer's. The customer can pay us as needed for revisions to the web site. Some web designers offer a 'web master' type service in which the customer pays an ongoing monthly fee, even if there is very little if any web site administration work that needs to be done.
If requested we will submit the customer's web site to the largest search engines. Please request this at the time the estimate is prepared. While we will take the appropriate steps, we can not guarantee any specific ranking on any of the search engines. Our fee will simply be based on the time it will take to submit the customer's site. If desired, the customer can submit their site themselves. It is a fairly straightforward process and does not require any extensive computer knowledge.

For clients that do not want to deal with domain registration, web site hosting, search engine submission, etc. , we can establish a monthly maintenance service. This will vary from depending on services requested. You can buy these services directly at a lower cost. But if our handling these items is of benefit to you, then we will seek a mutually agreeable arrangement.
